Welcome to Our Studio

At Deepservices, we've created a professional photography studio that combines state-of-the-art digital equipment with traditional film facilities. To ensure everyone has a safe and productive experience, we've established these guidelines.

Our studio is a shared creative space where respect for equipment, facilities, and fellow photographers is paramount. These rules help us maintain our equipment and create an environment where everyone can learn and create effectively.

General Studio Guidelines

Operating Hours

• Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM

• Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

• Sunday: Closed (except for pre-booked workshops)

• After-hours access available for advanced students with prior approval

Check-in Procedure

• Sign in at the front desk upon arrival

• Wear your Deepservices ID badge at all times

• Inform staff of which facilities you'll be using

• Non-enrolled guests must be approved and sign a waiver

Respect the Space

• Clean up after yourself in all areas

• Return equipment to designated storage locations

• No food in studio or darkroom areas

• Drinks allowed only in spill-proof containers

Equipment Rules

Studio Equipment

  • All equipment must be booked in advance through our online system
  • Attend equipment orientation before first use of studio lighting
  • Report any damage or malfunction immediately
  • Never force connections or mechanisms
  • Return gear to proper storage location after use

Lighting Equipment

  • Allow strobes to cool down between intense use
  • Never move hot lights with bare hands
  • Secure all stands with sandbags when using boom arms
  • Coil cables properly after use

Camera Equipment

  • Complete checkout form before borrowing any equipment
  • Students are responsible for any damage beyond normal wear
  • Never change lenses in dusty environments
  • Return memory cards formatted and batteries charged

Rental Policies

  • Equipment is available for in-studio use at no additional charge
  • Off-site equipment rental requires additional fees and deposit
  • Late returns incur a fee of $25 NZD per day
  • Full replacement cost charged for lost or severely damaged items

Digital Lab Guidelines

Computer Workstations

  • Log out of all accounts when leaving your workstation
  • No food or drinks near computer equipment
  • Do not install any software without staff approval
  • Save work to your external drive, not the local hard drive
  • Clean your workspace before leaving

Field Trip Guidelines

Safety in the Field

Photography in Wānaka's beautiful landscapes requires awareness of safety and environmental considerations:

  • Always inform instructors of your location when separating from the group
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the terrain
  • Carry sufficient water, snacks, and sun protection
  • Follow all guide instructions regarding wildlife and terrain

Environmental Responsibility

  • Stay on designated trails and paths
  • Practice "leave no trace" principles in all natural settings
  • Do not disturb wildlife or vegetation for photo opportunities
  • Respect private property and obtain permission when needed
